Our Story
How Café Patoro Was Born
INSPIRATION
Having spent her childhood in Brazil, founder Ahla fondly remembers starting her days with a warm and cheesy pão de queijo. Years later, after moving to the big Apple for college, she always yearned for her favorite snack – the delicious and scrumptious cheese breads. But it was nowhere to be found... Thus an opportunity presented itself, and Café Patoro was born.
ORIGINS
Café Patoro began at the Hester Street Fair, under a small tent operating only on the weekends during the summer months. From there, it grew to also be featured at the Bryant Park HBO Film Festival, Urban Space Garment District, and L.I.C. Flea. After receiving overwhelming feedback, it was time for Café Patoro to look for a place to call home. In January 2016, Café Patoro opened its doors with its first location in South Street Seaport.
team
Café Patoro is run and operated by husband and wife duo, Geno and Ahla. While both come from different backgrounds, they have only one goal in mind: to produce the most delicious Brazilian cheese bread and share it with the rest of the world.
